March 18th, 2010 — Buildify, content
Despite how much you write, it is possible you may feel that you still have not tapped your target niche. This may leave you feeling like you have run out of content, and wondering how or where you can get ideas for posting with to keep things fresh. Well here are some ideas for you to look into (centering on online money making schemes):
Make updates on old posts of yours -
If you have been posting about online moneymaking, then you have probably covered such topics as affiliates, blogging, ad-words, and ad-sense. The chances are good that some or all of your information is out of date now, and are in need of edits and updating. You could cover things like changes in the terms of service with one of the network partners, or a new platform to blog with that offers new features. Updating details like these will bring more eyes back to your blog, and perhaps garner some new ones.
Be Personal –
A lot of blogs are written in a cold and informal manner. This makes them utterly boring. If you are writing about how to make money online, your readers will likely be more interested in hearing about how you have made money, especially by using the techniques you outline. On the flip side, if things didn’t pan out so well, write about that too. Everyone loves a winner, but it’s nice to share in the pain too, so to speak. If all you ever talk about is making money, but your readers don’t always have as much luck, they will eventually leave, seeing you as fake, or unreliable.
Interview experts in the field –
You may not be an expert in the field you choose to blog about, but it can help. Chances are, however, you aren’t. So inviting an expert to a questions and answers meeting could boost your credibility quite a bit. This will be true for a online moneymaking blog too, and you don’t have to be making thousands to blog about it. You could write about starting from scratch, what it was like, what worked, what didn’t, and the resulting life’s escapades therein. Having an interview with someone else who has done the same and is making good money now would be an excellent boon to your site. You could also interview people involved in the advertising networks you work with, or other popular bloggers of your line. This can also open up networking channels for you and your readers.

March 15th, 2010 — Buildify, audience, blog design, content, engaging ideas, goals, platform
Once you know what niche or industry you will be blogging about, the next step in the process that you need to consider before you actually begin writing is some basic blog design tips. When designing and modeling your blog, you absolutely need to be able to keep your readers in mind. You need to create a design that has enough individuality and pizzazz that it will attract new visitors to your blog, but your design should also be comfortable and warm so that readers will return again and again, and striking this balance is not always simple. Here are five tips that will help you create a design for your corporate blog that is balanced between appealing and comfortable.
1 – Choose your blog theme wisely.
The blog theme that you choose should correspond with whatever industry or niche you have decided to blog about. Don’t go off target when it comes to pictures, symbols and other visual aids if they do not have relevancy or a relationship with the niche you are writing about. Your blog theme may be a subtle part of your blog but it is a vital one all the same, reinforcing the affiliation of your blog with the niche or industry that you are promoting.
2 – Introduce yourself so that your audience can get to know you.
Every blog should feature either an about me page, or an about me section where you can introduce yourself to those who are reading your blog. Tell your readers who you are and why you are blogging about the topic you are in, and even more importantly, what objectives you hope to fulfill by blogging. Your readers will appreciate getting to know you.
3 – Offer your readers methods for contacting you.
Do not keep your contact information obscure or hide it from your readers all together. Your readers should have easy access to you through a phone number or e-mail. This has a very powerful effect on building relationships with your readers and customers so do not underestimate its importance when styling your corporate blog.
4 – Make your best work easy to find.
If you write something that attracts more readers or more commenters than usual, make this post more readily available by categorizing it separately or linking it in a section on your sidebar, such as the “Most popular entries” section so that these posts can be regularly read and accessed by your readers and customers in the future.
5 – Make your blog visually appealing as well as easy on the eyes.
This one ought to be pretty straight forward – Don’t jazz your blog up too much with eye catching details because they can strain the eyes and cause difficulty reading. Good fonts to use include Times New Roman, Georgia and Arial. If you want to get a little fancy without sacrificing readability, consider Calibri. You can’t go wrong with dark fonts on light backgrounds, which are the easiest for readability.

January 16th, 2010 — content, engaging ideas, goals, planning, social bookmarking sites
When you first start your corporate blog, it can be easy to get caught up in the excitement. After a few on target posts, you may find yourself wandering and it can be difficult to find that balance of posting interesting content and keeping with your original plan. Here are some tips to help you stay focused on your corporate blogging adventure.
1. Set out a roadmap, complete with sidestreets.
You can stay 100% on topic all of the time or your blog would be pretty boring. When you’re figuring out the basics of what you will be talking about on your blog, find relevant secondary topics that still tie into what you do but are a little bit more fun. You can then allow yourself to go down these sidestreets, and you won’t have to worry that you’ll be going off track. In essence, you’re staying on topic, even if it doesn’t feel like it, since you’ve already worked out what will be acceptable to discuss on your blog.
2. Allow yourself one fun post a week.
You can’t be serious all the time and your readers won’t appreciate overly somber posts. Try to allow yourself one to kick back and have fun. This is a good time to post a top ten list or something that is engaging, fun and shows your company in a good light. By giving yourself one free day a week where you can express yourself in a different way, you’re cutting back on the risk that you’ll want to do this all the time.
In addition, your readers will learn to really appreciate this fun day and you may even find that your traffic spike on these days. As you post fun topics like this, you’ll also have a better chance of getting your site on Digg, or other social bookmarking sites. The readers that frequent these sites are notorious for their love of top ten lists and you can explode your traffic if you happen to get one of your posts included. By getting a little funny, you can really increase your chances of having this happen.
3. Utilize polls and other features to keep your reader’s engaged.
If you’re posting the same thing day after day, it is all too easy to lose your focus. Try adding fun elements, such as a polls, that encourage reader participation. You can actually learn a lot about your customers and your readers by trying this. Try to do this at least once a week as well.
These are just a few ideas of how to stay focused on your corporate blog. A blog management company will be able to help you with your needs and can make it easier to produce a blog that is not only fun and engaging but gets your message across the way you need it to be portrayed. They are very useful, especially if you are completely new to blogging in general.

October 6th, 2009 — Buildify, audience, content, keywords, writing style
This is part three in a series about tips for good corporate blogging. We touched on three tips in both the first part and the second part of this series – Now here are another handful of tips for your consideration.
- 7 – Write clearly and concisely when it comes to everything that you publish in your blog.
You should be aiming to craft short and to-the-point questions. You should only be touching on one single concept per sentence in order to keep the attention of your readers. Avoid writing using double speak or technical terms and jargon that may persuade your readers not to stay. Your sentences should be simple and straight forward, rather than forcing your readers to think hard about the meaning that you are trying to get at. Use specific punctuation marks, including dashes and commas, as liberally as you possibly can. In some ways, it may be ideal to spoon feed your content to your readers to make sure that no part of the meaning is lost, and that your readers come away feeling confident about what they have read.
- 8 – Use keywords as often as you possibly can when writing in your blog post, but only where they feel natural.
Using relevant keywords often when writing your blog posts will help you stay on purpose, and they will also appeal to the search engines. Your search engine rankings will go up, and you will likely enjoy more traffic as a result. This is one of the reasons why your blog should have a solid purpose statement before you begin to write in it. The more clearly that you are able to convey the purpose behind your blog, the more consistently you will be able to deliver messages that are on task and on target with the niche or industry that you are attempting to sell. The more often your preferred keywords show up, the more likely you will be to garner improvements in search engine ranking and results.
- 9 – Write conversationally when you write in your blog.
Rather than writing with a formal edge to your writing, you should be writing as if you are speaking to an old friend. Your blog should be friendly and conversational, but only as long as you’re still providing information and value in each of the blog posts that you create. There is nothing wrong with implementing common expressions from speech in your blog posts. For example, you can use terms like these:
“Hey guys”,
“Go Figure!”,
“Now I’m asking you”,
“Gotta love it!”
“What’s up?”
You should also keep the age of your average reader in mind when determining the “voice” of your blog entries. Ending each blog post with “TTYL” for “Talk To You Later” may not go over as well for certain audiences as for others. Just keep in mind that the rules for conversation in a blog are not the same as writing content for other purposes, as things are much more casual and conversational when writing and communicating in a blog.

February 25th, 2009 — Buildify, blog design, engaging ideas
