There are a myriad of different ways that you can increase your blog’s search engine rankings in the top search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. The best approach is to find a number of strategies that will work for you, implementing them one at a time and combining them for the best possible results. Here is a look at some of the best strategies for success with generating better blog rankings for your corporate blog.

1 – Target Audience.

If you have not done so already, you need to build yourself a list of specific phrases and keywords that your target audience is specifically looking for online to find what you are providing. Blog ranking is only useful if you are ranking for the right keywords and key phrases.

2 – Posting Schedule.

Write your blog content often, and make sure to use your keyword list as a guide for all of the content that you produce. This will help to make sure that you are improving your search engine rankings for a much wider range of different phrases, which is going to lead to more traffic in the long term.

3 – Get Links.

When you add quality content to your blog fairly regularly over time, you are also turning your blog into a resource that is much more useful to its readers. This will help you to attract links from other webmasters for increased exposure in search engines, increasing your link popularity in the process.

4 -Directories.

Add your blog to web directories in various sources on the internet. This is another excellent strategy for increasing your link property and for seeing an improvement in ranking as well. You should conduct some basic research to figure out which directories will offer the best value for the cost.

5 -Recycle or upcycle with focus.

Re-purpose old content in order to get more bang out of your buck. You can compile and revise older blog posts in order to turn them into longer articles. 6 – Internal Links

Link between all of your different posts any time that it makes sense for you to do so. Make sure that keywords are included in the links. This is excellent for your readers because it provides usability, and it is also excellent for the search engines by providing visibility.

7 – Press Release.

When your business blog is offering plenty of excellent content, you should take the time to publish a press release to announce it. Make sure that the press release includes good information about your blog, and offers a link so that readers can find it. This will not only add to the link popularity that was mentioned in Part 1 of this series, but it will also help you improve your blog rankings over all in search engines and among your readers.

8 – Networking.

Take the time to compile a list of websites that relate to your niche or your industry. Contact whoever runs or publishes the website and recommend your blog as a potential resource for the people reading their websites. If you have posted high quality content on a regular basis, most of these website owners would be more than happy to recommend your blog as a resource for visitors to their websites.

9 – Professional Help.

Is Wordpress or Blogger Right For Corporate Blogs

Wordpress or Blogger?There is a lot of controversy over which blogging platform is ideal for corporate blogs. With so many schools of thought on the matter, it can be difficult to figure out which one you should be using. We have two main favorites, Blogger and Wordpress, and both are very well suited to corporate blogging.

The two main benefits of both of these platforms is that they are incredibly easy to use, and incredibly search engine friendly. That solves a lot of problems right there. While we typically don’t recommend free services for corporate blogging, now that Blogger allows you to attach your own URL to your Blogger account, they’ve moved up in our estimation.

Basically, if you don’t want to go through the trouble of using server space for your corporate blog and you need a publishing platform that is literally idiot proof, then Blogger is ideal. It has many of the same features as Wordpress, and since it is owned by Google, you’ll have a pretty good chance of getting a good ranking as long as you keep publishing quality content.

For corporate blog owners that need a little more control, Wordpress is our natural favorite. There are thousands of customization options that are available and it is very easy to get started. With the right plugins, you can make a very advanced site without breaking a sweat, and you’ll be optimizing your content at the same time.

While there are other platforms that work well for corporate blogs, we really prefer Wordpress for two main reasons:

1. Smaller learning curve.

Wordpress takes less than five minutes to install, even if you have no prior experience. Everything is spelled out for you in the dashboard for your site and publishing is incredibly easy. With the right configuration you can easily build a very popular corporate blog without any effort.

2. More options for optimization.

There are thousands of plugins for Wordpress that are designed to help you manage comments, optimize your content, take advantage of SEO trends, and keep everything running smoothly. These are all easy to install and use and most require very little interaction on your part.

The bottom line is that not everyone can afford to hire a web designer or programmer. Either one of these solutions is absolutely free to use and in most cases, they are more capable than the platforms that actually do cost money. For those that need to get a quick start and do not have the time to learn HTML, PHP coding and basic blogging set-up, you can’t go wrong with either of these platforms.

Try setting up a sample account on Blogger, or install Wordpress on your own server and play around with them for a few minutes. Chances are you’ll be able to get the hang of it immediately and you will be well on your way to becoming the owner of a successful corporate blog that is completely tricked out and reader friendly.
