Blogging has become an extremely popular activity for businesses, and it also has created a very important impact in other circles as well, including an activity for the political scene as well as for ordinary individuals as well. Google purchased Blogger in 2003, and ever since, blogging has continued to grow at an exponential pace. Here are some of the best ways that blogging can be used in order to enhance your business.
1 – The hits that you attract to your website will be more qualified.
By providing interesting content on your site through your blog, you can reach a much larger audience. Post links to your website and when readers follow these links, you will know it is because they are actually interested in what it is that you are offering.
2 – You can increase your return on investment, or ROI.
By showcasing your new products and including information in your blog, your readers will easily be driven from your blog onto your sales pages or into your catalog of products. The more people who click on your site, the more sales you will be able to realize. Marketing really is a numbers game, and blogging for your business really can help.
3 – You can increase your ranking in search engines.
If you use the best keywords and long tail phrases in your blog entries, you can significantly increase your search engine ranking. Search engines are looking for fresh content above all else, and blogs certainly do provide it.
4 – You can develop a stronger connection with your readers.
By creating an open means of communication with your readers, you can develop a rapport or a relationship with them. They will appreciate the information that you are giving them, including tips, advice, updates and product information, and you will benefit from the relationships that drive sales in the long run.
5 – You can create better relationships through communication on a two way basis.
Allowing readers to respond to your blog posts with comments and questions will give you an even better opportunity to develop strong relationships with current and future customers. Make sure that you respond to them to develop this communication.
6 – You can establish yourself as an expert or authority in your line of business or your industry.
Your blog will let you offer valuable information that your audience is looking for, and this will allow you to showcase your expertise to all of the world. This is an excellent way to gain the trust of both current and potential customers as well.
7 – Blogs are one of the most cost effective methods of publishing online.
Blogs can be set up for very little cost, and do not require a programmer in most cases. Some blogger hosts are completely free and will set the site up for you. In other words, a blog can cost between nothing and approximately $10 a month; a cost effective option consider the profit potential.

January 1st, 2010 — RSS Feed, bloggers, blogosphere, comments, social bookmarking sites, web traffic
Whether you are just getting started in corporate blogging, or you haven’t been paying much attention to other bloggers, the so-called “blogosphere” can be a little confusing. There are literally thousands, if not millions of blogs out there, and if you’re trying to network through them, the task can be a bit overwhelming. There are a few tips however that can help you learn to navigate successfully through the blogosphere.
What is the blogosphere?
It is a term that was coined to describe the intertwining of blog sites, the general atmosphere of the community and the fact that bloggers are really in their own little world. You can become a member of the blogosphere just by becoming a coporate blogger, but you’ll need to know a few things before you get started. Otherwise, your best efforts may just be shooting yourself in the foot.
The first place to start is understanding RSS feeds, and social networking sites. If you don’t have the basics down for these two very important items, everything else may be more complicated than necessary. Take some time to go through places like Digg.com, Technorati, and Twitter to see what is going on. Chances are, you’ll be able to come up with some great ideas for your own blog during this process.
Next, you’ll want to start thinking about setting up some great relationships with other bloggers. This has many added benefits, such as being able to write a guest post for another blog (or having someone do the same for you) and you’ll be building up some strong contacts that will help you increase your traffic and your exposure. Take the time to hunt down other blogs in your niche and start by leaving thoughtful comments in their blog section, making sure to leave your URL.
This is quiet marketing, but it can be very successful. Once you have your own little network built up through your contacts, you should find that your traffic increases as a natural result. This is particularly true if you are utilizing social networking sites to promote your blog.
Remember, you don’t necessarily have to promote just your blog. You can develop a reputation as a valued contributor by sharing good links with your network and involving them in your blog. Try to keep your promotion efforts as quiet as possible, to avoid being labeled as a spammer. People in the blogosphere have a very low tolerance for behavior like this and you can quickly develop a reputation that is very hard to shake.
Taking the time to become a valued member of the blogosphere is time well spent. This is your opportunity to develop yourself as an authority on your subject of choice, and to build up real relationships with your readers and with other bloggers. By reaching out to them and becoming an active participant in social networks, comment sections and forums, you can start to grow your corporate blog very quickly and with little extra effort.

July 27th, 2009 — audience, content, goals, planning, writing style
When you are getting ready to start publishing your corporate blog, it is a good idea to put some thought into the kind of information you will be sharing with the public. There are many different kinds of corporate blogs out there and it is a good idea to pick a classification that you will be comfortable with.
Internal/Informal –
Some companies like to have a very informal blog that is used to keep customers updated on events within the company and just basic news. This style is probably best for a very small company that really doesn’t have to worry too much about public image. It’s ok to keep it informal in this instance. However, a larger company may be perceived as being unprofessional if they attempt to take this tact with their blog.
Marketing –
This is a very hard style to pull off and you will need to walk that fine line between being too commercial and not getting your marketing message across. The best way to accomplish this is to find ways to tie in current events and news with your products. Otherwise, your blog will come off like one big advertisement and no one will want to read it.
Formal –
This is another style that is usually adopted by larger companies. It is a very stiff format that really doesn’t read well and it’s hard to build a personal relationship with your readers when trying this style. If you have a very large company such as a bank however, this may be the best road to take since you will be coming off as trustworthy.
News and Updates –
This is a style that suits most companies of any size. The blog can be used in a variety of different ways to keep customers informed about upcoming events, news about the company as well as tracking other news outlets and what they are saying about your company. If you are not comfortable going too in-depth with information, this is a very good format to use and it is very versatile.
Conversational –
This is a format that is very tricky and should only be used if you are very good at walking that fine line between friendly and engaging to over sharing and over personalization. This works well for smaller companies that really want to engage their audience and present a fun image. If you have an apparel company or an audience that skews a little younger, this is a good style to use.
Overall, it is important to weigh your audience when deciding what your blog is going to cover. If you have a young audience, they will expect you to be hip and current. If your audience is older, they want to see a little more respectability. It’s a good idea to work with someone that can assist you in setting the right tone for your company blog. Blog management services can be very useful in helping you accomplish this.

May 8th, 2009 — Buildify, audience, content, writing style
Depending on what type of content you are writing, and who you intend to reach out to with said content, there are different rules and tips that will apply to how you construct your content. Most of the rules that apply to writing a newsletter or an eZine are going to be similar to those that apply to posting in a blog, though there are also some pretty important differences in play as well. When it comes to publishing content in a blog for the first time, there are some pretty basic tips that you need to keep in mind. Go through this list of tips every time you put a blog entry together, and you will be publishing excellent blog content in no time at all and attracting clients and prospects to your products and services as well.
There are a couple of parts to this series, think five, so make sure to read them all in order to get the most out of these useful tips!
- 1 – First and foremost, you need to write every piece of content with your reader specifically in mind.
There is a popular marketing term, an acronym called WIIFM. Keep this in mind, but put a little bit of a spin on it by asking WIIFT, or What’s In It for Them? Every time you craft a blog entry, you should take the time to ask yourself what your readers are going to get out of that blog entry. If there is no value in your blog writing, then why are you writing in your corporate blog in the first place? Your readers will be looking to determine what is in it for them, so you should be keeping this in mind as well.
- 2 – Next, you need to make sure that everything you publish is proof read and double checked prior to being published.
You need to watch out for glaring grammatical and typographical errors. Posting an entry to your blog without proof reading ahead of time is like leaving the house to run errands without washing your hair or applying makeup. Polishing your content before you send it out is a good way to show your readers that you have respect for them.
- 3 – Third, you want to make sure that everything you write and post is both valuable and also worthwhile.
You should not be aiming to waste the time of your readers when you write and publish blog entries. If you do not have anything valuable or worthwhile to talk about, don’t worry because there are plenty of other people online that do have plenty to say. Share articles from other bloggers on the internet, conduct an interview with an expert within the niche, or review a book on a related subject if you are reaching for content ideas. These are topics that your readers find useful, even if they are not original ideas coming from the author of the blog.

Are you using social networking enough for your corporate blog? Consider the following:

If you join social networking sites that complement the purpose of your business, you will go far.
Find social networking sites that respond well to the products that you sell, or the information that you share. Target the right traffic and you will surely notice a steep increase in potential customers to your corporate blog and website.
If you want to drive traffic to your blog, you need to visit other blogs within your niche area and you need to participate in them. Read and comment on a daily basis, and you will surely drive new traffic to your blog as well.
Your content should be compelling and crafty.
This includes the content that you write for your website and for your blog. Readers are not just looking for content, but rather they are looking for content that has value to them in some way. Make sure to update your blog as often as possible, with at least three new entries per week.
Social networking is quickly becoming a vital element to corporate blogging. January 1st, 2009 — Buildify, bloggers, employees, marketing
Creating a marketing message is a lot like building a house of cards: The building process can take a long, painstaking amount of time, however it can take mere moments to send everything tumbling. Sometimes all it takes is a single piece of thoughtless communication to completely contradict your marketing message and the effort that has been put into building it up. Before you know it, your company is being slandered on the internet, in newspapers and through other forms of media, completely destroying your hard work. Unfortunately, with the ease of blogging also comes a great amount of responsibility.
Corporate blogging can do magical things when it comes to spreading your company’s marketing message in new and exciting ways. The important thing to keep in mind, however, is that little things matter, and they add up, and as a corporate blogger, you will be held highly accountable for the messages that you spread in your blog. Your underlings can probably pass a lot of information in a blog without the comments carrying that much weight, but if you are blogging for a company that you own or hold a high amount of stock in, you could do quite a bit of damage without intending to, simply by letting something slip that could destroy the marketing message that you have worked so hard to build with your corporate blog.
When working to spread your company’s marketing message through a corporate blogging effort, it is important that you know what message you are trying to portray, and you stick to that. If you say something offhanded, too friendly, snooty, too formal, illiterate or otherwise off base, you can turn your hardworking marketing message into something that appears quite embarrassingly one dimensional and even fatuous in nature.
For this reason, it is important that you can ensure a certain level of consistently throughout your organization when it comes to writing a corporate blog, avoiding in the process the natural propensity for people to interpret and sell your marketing message in the wrong light. Here are some suggestions that are well worth considering if you want to protect your hard earned name in big business and the world of online corporate blogging.
- Remember, above all else, that message consistency depends on the message working for everyone within the organization.
- Appoint the right person to maintain your message and its consistency not only throughout the company, but also in how the company communicates outside its doors as well.
- Train, train, share information and train some more. Talk to your staff members in real terms, treat them like real people. Show them how to implement your marketing philosophies and messages when they blog, and then let them share of themselves and your company in ways that uphold these core messages.
Corporate blogging is a double edged sword – When used correctly it can significantly boost the capabilities of your web presence online, but when used incorrectly it can destroy your company’s marketing message in a flash.
