Blog Posting Ideas (Pt. 1)

ideaDespite how much you write, it is possible you may feel that you still have not tapped your target niche. This may leave you feeling like you have run out of content, and wondering how or where you can get ideas for posting with to keep things fresh. Well here are some ideas for you to look into (centering on online money making schemes):

Make updates on old posts of yours -

If you have been posting about online moneymaking, then you have probably covered such topics as affiliates, blogging, ad-words, and ad-sense. The chances are good that some or all of your information is out of date now, and are in need of edits and updating. You could cover things like changes in the terms of service with one of the network partners, or a new platform to blog with that offers new features. Updating details like these will bring more eyes back to your blog, and perhaps garner some new ones.

Be Personal –

A lot of blogs are written in a cold and informal manner. This makes them utterly boring. If you are writing about how to make money online, your readers will likely be more interested in hearing about how you have made money, especially by using the techniques you outline. On the flip side, if things didn’t pan out so well, write about that too. Everyone loves a winner, but it’s nice to share in the pain too, so to speak. If all you ever talk about is making money, but your readers don’t always have as much luck, they will eventually leave, seeing you as fake, or unreliable.

Interview experts in the field –

You may not be an expert in the field you choose to blog about, but it can help. Chances are, however, you aren’t. So inviting an expert to a questions and answers meeting could boost your credibility quite a bit. This will be true for a online moneymaking blog too, and you don’t have to be making thousands to blog about it. You could write about starting from scratch, what it was like, what worked, what didn’t, and the resulting life’s escapades therein. Having an interview with someone else who has done the same and is making good money now would be an excellent boon to your site. You could also interview people involved in the advertising networks you work with, or other popular bloggers of your line. This can also open up networking channels for you and your readers.

Quick and Dirty Tips for Effective Corporate Blogging, pt 2

daisiesThis is part two in a series about tips for good corporate blogging. We touched on three tips in the first part of this series – Now here are another handful of tips for your consideration.

- 4 – Keep each piece of content short, simple and concise to get the point across without being too wordy.

There is another saying here that is worth remembering, KISS. KISS stands for “Keep it short and simple”. Most people who prefer to read blogs online are scanners, meaning that rather than reading your entire blog post from end to end, they will more than likely skim over the post to determine whether they have the interest and the time to actually read further. You may actually have a lot to say, and you may find your content interesting, but most people who are reading online simply do not have the time or the interest to read every piece of content that they come across. In other words, you need to get to the point as quickly as possible. Publishing short posts on a more frequent basis is always ideal to publishing lengthy articles more rarely, if you want to keep the attention of your readers.

- 5 – Create links as often as you possibly can.

Creating links is what builds credibility for your blog, and it is also capable of indicating to your readers that you are an expert in your chosen field. People do not necessarily have time to figure out what others are doing, so in a way it is your place to let them know. Link to other blogs, websites, products, services and other information on the internet and build a network of associates that will gladly create a return link to your website. There is nothing that dictates that you cannot talk about other people and their content in your blog, and it may just inspire them to write about your blog as well.

- 6 – Make sure that everything that you post is both lively and interesting.

Every one of the blog posts that you write should be snazzy, snappy and fun to read. Even if you are not necessarily a natural born writer, there is nothing that dictates that you cannot learn how to effectively write blogs. The key to writing lively and interesting content for your blogs is to write in your blog as if you were speaking to a friend, or even if you were speaking to yourself. You need to remember that you need to get to the point quickly, though. And when you are writing blog entries, if you want them to be on topic, relevant and informative, make sure that you are addressing the 5 W’s of journalism, which are Who, What, Why, When and Where. Address these in the first paragraph of your blog and you will already be on the right track with the blog entries that you write.

5 More Tips for Corporate Blogging

A lot of the most common tips for corporate blogging are obvious now, and are becoming stale for that reason. But does that mean that we know everything that we need to know about getting a good corporate blog started? Here are five new tips for corporate blogging that have not been regurgitated time and time again.

1 – Never forget that your blog is all about representing your personal brand.

You can work wonders to develop and show off your corporate brand if the bloggers representing your company and corporate brand know how to talk about it.

2 – Keep each of your blogs focused to a single topic.

You can create power in your corporate blog simply by learning how to focus and sticking to a single subject or topic at a time.

3 – Join conversations rather than creating brand new ones.

People are already out there talking about the things that they care about most, so read other conversations and take the time to add value to these existing conversations by adding something new whenever it is possible to. When you begin your own conversations in your blog, then, you will have already established credibility of your own. It is important to not be too me-centric when you first start corporate logging, but rather to build a reputation over time before you expect to have a following of your own. If people know who you are and where you are coming from, they will follow your comments back to your blog to see what else you have to say.

4 – Focus on serving your readers more readily than pleasing your employer.

This seems like a simple strategy, but it is fundamental for the success of your corporate blog. The more generous you are when it comes to the readers of your blog, the more influential you will find yourself being. Send people away from your site to visit competitors whenever it will benefit them. Sure, you may end up losing a sale at the time, but you may gain a long term, trusting customer in the process, and that is more important in the long term.

5 – Strive to humanize.

It is absolutely vital that you realize that the one fundamental reason for corporate blogging in the first place is to create a level of humanization in the corporation. When you write a corporate blog, your primary intention should be to be a real person. You should reveal the passion that you feel for the job that you are doing to show readers what is great about the company. You should be open and honest about your personal fallibility so that readers can see it, and you should strive every day to avoid mediocrity, which is what causes so many corporate blogs to fail. The more real, open, honest and HUMAN your corporate blog is, the better off you will be.
