One of the best reasons to give corporate blogging a try is that it has the potential to really help you grow your business. If you are just establishing your online identity or if you are trying to actively increase your customer base and your sales, a corporate blog can make a big difference. There are many different ways that this type of communication can result in more sales and a larger customer base.
First, you’ll be adding content on a regular basis that covers a wide variety of topics. This means that there will be more content for search engines to index and more keywords used to ensure that you land in the top spot. This makes it much easier for new readers to discover not only your blog but your company as well. By taking the time to really work on a blog and publish it regularly, you can dramatically increase the number of visitors that your site sees every day.
Next, a corporate blog adds a level of humanity to any site. Many consumers perceive corporations as cold entities with little concern for the common man. By putting a name and a face to your company you’re creating a relationship and showing that there is a heart behind that business exterior. This is very effective at building up customer trust and is useful when you are trying to project a certain image for your company.
A corporate blog can also be used to connect with readers and get their feedback. While allowing comments on a blog can be scary, they are a great way for your customers to get their thoughts across. You’ll have a bird’s eye view of what your customers really want and this is a lot easier that relying on a focus group for the same thing. If you are concerned about allowing comments on your blog, you can always set them to moderation to avoid having any controversy erupt.
Lastly, a corporate blog helps you announce new products and specials – if you do it in the right way. Try to steer clear of blatant advertising and find ways to incorporate your announcements with current events. This helps you gain some powerful advertising that doesn’t cost a dime.
When you’re ready to start your own corporate blog it is important to make sure that you know how to handle it. It is much easier to hire a professional that knows how to run a corporate blog and keep it going in the right direction. You can actually end up saving money with this approach and you won’t have to worry about diverting company resources away from your other projects.
Corporate blogs can be powerful and effective but they do need to be managed properly. By working with a professional, you can ensure that your company will avoid common blogging pitfalls and you will be able to achieve the results discussed above as well as many other benefits.

In this day and age, the hottest media and the hottest method for communicating with customers, employees, business partners and competitors are through corporate blogging. If you create a corporate blog for your business, and you follow some basic strategies for improving communication through this popular online media, you will make waves not only in your company, but in your industry, and the entire market as well. More and more companies and corporations are turning to blogging as a means of communicating within the industry. Do you want to start corporate blogging now, while there is still time to make waves, or do you want to wait until you’re stranded with the old forms of communication, when your competitors are reaching out to your customers via their corporate blog?
Face the facts:
If you want to improve communication in your company, you need to start blogging. Corporate blogging will allow you to create new lines of communication between employees, business partners, customers and company and competitors as well. By creating a corporate blog at this point, you are simply opening your company up to the same lines of communication that other companies, possibly within your industry, are already utilizing to reach out to new customers and target markets.
The level of communication that you can create by corporate blogging is better than every other form of communication available between businesses and their customers. If you do not already have a corporate blog, or if you have a corporate blog but you are not properly utilizing it, then you need to make a change right now. If you do not have time to write in a corporate blog as the owner of a company, you need to find someone who can keep up with your corporate blog for you. There are plenty of corporate communication consultants and professional bloggers out there that are more than capable of writing a corporate blog for you. The best corporate blog is one that is written by the company itself, but if you cannot find a way to maintain your own corporate blog, you need to seek help rather than scrapping the idea all together.
Corporate blogging opens up new lines of communication between everyone that your business could ever come in contact with. If you want to create new ways for your customers to reach out to your company, or for your employees to communicate with you and within the business, then you need to create a corporate blog. Once you understand how a corporate blog works and how it can benefit you, you will better understand the importance behind keeping a blog for your company. Try it out for a couple of weeks, open up new lines of corporate communication, and then make the decision of whether you want to keep it up on your own or hire in a corporate communication consultant that can help you get the job done.

December 12th, 2009 — audience, brand awareness, customer base, public relations, search engine
Currently, one of the best ways to reach out to your customer base is through the use of a corporate blog. When it comes to getting that personal touch just right and humanizing your company, there is no better tool than a blog done well. Let’s take a look at just a few of the benefits that a corporate blog can bring your company.
1. Greater Discoverability
Static pages such as you find on a regular site are not very discoverable when it comes to search engine traffic. If you’re in a very tight niche, it can be difficult to get your pages up to the top of the search engine results. When you have a corporate blog, you’re boosting that discoverability for the following reasons. First, you have more content that is added to on a regular basis. Search engines start spidering your site more often and the result is that you have a higher ranking in search results.
Second, you’ll be covering several different topics that readers of all kinds will be interested in. The more you write about the better your chances are of having new customers stumble upon your blog and as such, your company.
2. The Human Touch
Many consumers view corporations are being soulless and run by a bunch of drones. A corporate blog that is done well will create that human element and help consumers see that your business is run by real people. This builds a stronger level of trust and your readers begin to develop a relationship with you via this blog. Over time, this can lead to a fan base as well as regular visitors and much more traffic.
3. Better Brand Awareness
Part of the key to building a strong brand is having that instant name recognition. When you have a corporate blog, you’ll be exposed to an entirely new audience. Your fans will begin to associate your company with openness and they will begin to recognize not only your name but your brand as well. There is no better tool for quickly building up your company’s brand.
This is not to say that corporate blogging is easy. In many cases, it may be beneficial to outsource the management of your blog to a trained professional that is capable to assisting you with SEO as well as pertinent advice on how to avoid common blogging pitfalls. By having a professional company guide you on your path towards corporate blogging the successful way you can be assured that you can avoid not only these pitfalls but that your blog will be able to accomplish all of the points mentioned above as well as many other benefits.
Blogging is an exciting new horizon for many companies and while it isn’t foolproof, with the right team, you can make a big difference in your company’s popularity. It’s definitely a balance, but with the right elements, you can have a very successful corporate blog that gets noticed.

Are you afraid of blogging? Many companies and businesses are actually quite afraid of corporate blogging because they are afraid of being different. It’s time that we get over our fears, however, because the new way of establishing permanent relationships with people is to ask “Do you have a blog?” The truth is, blogs are a great way to hear other people’s ideas and to find out about companies, businesses, contractors and other people in the industry. Too often, however, people say that they do not have what it takes to keep a corporate blog, and this is usually not true. Anyone can keep a blog as long as they have some basic understanding of the process.
Most companies are supportive of the idea of corporate blogging, especially among employees who will adequately spread a positive message about the firm. Unfortunately, most employees are unaware of this position, and believe that corporate blogging may get them in trouble, or worse, fired. If you want to have a corporate blog, and you want to share the news about your company, but you are afraid that your boss or bosses will not agree, you simply need to learn how to motivate them. Show them some of the best corporate blogs out there, and show them what this corporate blogging effort is doing for these companies. Companies that have effective, popular corporate blogs are managing to see increases in sales even in times of economic crisis. What does this say about the power of a corporate blog? A lot, actually.
According to Technorati, there are more than 4.3 million web blogs out there. The word of mouth networks are simply becoming more and more efficient, and absolutely vital as a result. The fact that there are so many corporate blogs out there is an excellent indicator that everyone is blogging, and if your company is not already blogging, now is the time to start.
Here are some of the reasons why employees within a corporation should be allowed to blog:
1 - People do not trust corporations, but corporate blogs allow them to facilitate community and communication, building stronger relationships with companies that they perceive to be trustworthy. If you are honest with your readers in a corporate blog, they will trust you more, end of story.
2 - Talking to corporations is difficult, but corporate blogs facilitate communication in an easier and more effective manner. Communicating by phone, e-mail or website can be difficult, and who knows if you will ever get a response. But if visitors comment in blog entries, they know they will be seen and heard.
3 – Blogs create believability. What do you think is more believable and friendly, a press release from the company’s PR representative, or a couple of blog entries on the subject? Blogs are inspiring, they are friendly, and they are full of communication. When readers want info on your company, they will sooner turn to your blog than a press release in the news.

February 12th, 2009 — Buildify, tools
When you find a tool that makes life easier, there is nothing more exciting. The need for corporations to simplify and systematize their processes has to do with working smart and taking advantage of things that allow workers to reach their goals without having to work quite as hard. One really cool tool that comes in handy during corporate blogging is Windows Live Writer. Some of you may already know what this is, while others may be avoiding it simply because it is the product of Microsoft, and there are a lot of people out there who avoid Microsoft gadgets by nature. Not only are we in love with the Windows Live Writer gadget from Microsoft, but we are quite obviously infatuated with it because not only does it make blogging infinitely easier, but also website updating and article writing as well.
This is one, single solitary tool that makes it possible to create a blog post completely offline and then publish it directly onto the blog. This one tool works very well with most of the major blog services, meaning that you do not have to go through a bunch of worthless steps to get everything set up. It allows you to easily and effectively insert hyperlinks, maps, pictures, tags and videos into your blog entries, meaning that you can get the most out of your blog from the use of one single solitary tool. Not all blog formats may be supported, but if your blogging format is supported then this unique tool will be truly invaluable for you. If you use an embedded website blog or an ActiveRain blog, you may be out of luck, but hopefully not for long.
If you cannot auto update your blog because your blogging software is not supported, don’t fret. You can still write your blog entries in the Windows Live Writer software and then copy and paste it into your blog software accordingly. The Windows Live Writer offers four different views, including a web layout, a preview layout, a normal basic Word format layout and an HTML layout. You can write your post or article and then publish it to Blogger, TypePad, Wordpress or whatever blog software you use, and then convert it into the HTML view for your website, or for a random blog platform that isn’t supported, such as ActiveRain, Trulia, etc. You can also switch into the normal view and copy and paste the results to submit to article distribution sites. In other words, any format that you need, the Windows Live Writer can create it for you.
There is only one real downside to the Windows Live Writer right now, and that is the insert video plug-in. It is only currently capable of letting you insert web based videos, rather than videos that are stored on your computer hard drive. This means you can put videos in your blog that you found online, but not videos that you found on your own computer which is something of a pain. Still, the software is excellent for most blogging purposes.
