Currently, one of the best ways to reach out to your customer base is through the use of a corporate blog. When it comes to getting that personal touch just right and humanizing your company, there is no better tool than a blog done well. Let’s take a look at just a few of the benefits that a corporate blog can bring your company.
1. Greater Discoverability
Static pages such as you find on a regular site are not very discoverable when it comes to search engine traffic. If you’re in a very tight niche, it can be difficult to get your pages up to the top of the search engine results. When you have a corporate blog, you’re boosting that discoverability for the following reasons. First, you have more content that is added to on a regular basis. Search engines start spidering your site more often and the result is that you have a higher ranking in search results.
Second, you’ll be covering several different topics that readers of all kinds will be interested in. The more you write about the better your chances are of having new customers stumble upon your blog and as such, your company.
2. The Human Touch
Many consumers view corporations are being soulless and run by a bunch of drones. A corporate blog that is done well will create that human element and help consumers see that your business is run by real people. This builds a stronger level of trust and your readers begin to develop a relationship with you via this blog. Over time, this can lead to a fan base as well as regular visitors and much more traffic.
3. Better Brand Awareness
Part of the key to building a strong brand is having that instant name recognition. When you have a corporate blog, you’ll be exposed to an entirely new audience. Your fans will begin to associate your company with openness and they will begin to recognize not only your name but your brand as well. There is no better tool for quickly building up your company’s brand.
This is not to say that corporate blogging is easy. In many cases, it may be beneficial to outsource the management of your blog to a trained professional that is capable to assisting you with SEO as well as pertinent advice on how to avoid common blogging pitfalls. By having a professional company guide you on your path towards corporate blogging the successful way you can be assured that you can avoid not only these pitfalls but that your blog will be able to accomplish all of the points mentioned above as well as many other benefits.
Blogging is an exciting new horizon for many companies and while it isn’t foolproof, with the right team, you can make a big difference in your company’s popularity. It’s definitely a balance, but with the right elements, you can have a very successful corporate blog that gets noticed.

One of the main reasons that many companies begin blogging is to help them attract new customers. With the use of SEO or search engine optimization, you can dramatically increase your overall discoverability on search engines and you should see an increase in the amount of traffic that your site sees. Let’s take a look at how you be an SEO success with your blog.
1. Use the right keywords.
Just as you should use SEO principles on your site, you will need to use the same ones with your blog. Make sure that each post contains keywords relevant to your site and your industry. Don’t use the same ones over and over again, branch out into the long tail words for your site. This will help increase your traffic and give you more opportunities to rank in the top 10, especially with more obscure keywords that are nevertheless popular.
2. Use the right titles.
Most times, your blog post title will be the text that your readers see when they find you through a search engine. You want to be able to pull them in with that title and convince them to click through. Make sure that your blog post titles are compelling and that they contain keywords just like the content. This is a great tip that not a lot of businesses use. It can really make a difference in your overall traffic.
3. Allow trackbacks.
Most blog applications will have a feature known as a trackback. This allows other sites to link back to you if they are discussing your posts. The more links you have coming into your site from other locations, the greater your chances are of getting a higher ranking. This is another technique that not many companies are aware of but it can make a very large difference in your rankings.
4. Publish frequently.
The more often you publish your blog, the better your chances are of getting indexed promptly. Search engine spiders don’t go to every site on the internet every day. They make a log of how often a site is updated and then crawl it every once in awhile if it does not publish a lot of new content. If you are publishing every day, you will be training those spiders to index your blog every single day. This gives you a chance to take advantage of hot keywords to get better rankings and as a plus side, you’ll get to see results a lot faster.
Sometimes, it takes a pro to get the right mix of the above techniques. It is a good idea to hire a blog management company that specializes in SEO if you are not familiar with this process. They can help you completely optimize your blog to ensure that you are getting more visitors and a better overall ranking. They can also speed up the amount of time that it can take to build up a readership by using SEO techniques.

In many cases, the most popular blogs got to their position by finding the right way to spin a topic. This technique can work for anyone that is looking to establish themselves as a corporate blogger, and it can dramatically impact not only how many readers you get, but also how they react to your post. While it is perfectly fine to write posts the way you want to, sometimes it pays to do a little research first, especially if you want to stand out from the crowd.
1. Research your topic.
If you have a blog post planned for a certain product, event or even a company announcement, take the time to go through other blogs that posted about the same or similar content. You can use Google’s Blog Search to help you find more outlets for this. Take the time to read each post to see what they are discussing and how they spun that particular subject.
2. Take notes.
Find the posts that you like and make a few notes about what they did with their content. Whether they put a humorous spin on something, or found a unique way of looking at the subject, write it down. It is important that you do not copy these posts, this is just for inspiration and to help you find your own unique spin. The more unique you are, the better your chances will be of attracting new readers.
3. Write your headline.
This is where the majority of your “spin” will go and the most time should be spent on figuring out what you will say here. The headline is sometimes the most important part of a post and without a good one, you will have difficulty driving traffic to your blog. This headline should not only contain your unique spin on the idea, but it should also be optimized for keywords that are related to your post.
4. Write your post.
Now that the headline is done, move on to writing the post and make sure to include your own unique spin on the subject. Find a voice that works for you and utilize it in this post. If you are known for your friendly posts, stick with that. However, sometimes, going outside the box can have a big impact. For example, if your posts are normally quite dry and you suddenly change that spin, you will get more attention.
5. Start promoting your post.
Your unique spin won’t do you much good if you don’t find a way to let people know about it. Submit your post to places such as Technorati and Digg. Your unique headline is going to come into play at this time. Thousands of readers use these sites every day and if your headline stands out from the crowd, you have a much better chance of making the front page.
6. Testing.
Now that you spun your first post, pay attention to the reaction you got and how much traffic you received. Fine tune your spin for future posts and use this data to help you decide which direction is right for your blog.

November 19th, 2009 — audience, comments, content, public relations
Right now, thousands of companies are using corporate blogging as a means of reaching out to new customers. This means that the field is incredibly crowded and getting more so every day. How do you get your blog to stand out from the crowd? It can be complicated at times, but there are several techniques that you can use to make sure that your blog gets noticed and that you beat your competitors.
1. Put a name and a face on your blog.
Don’t make the mistake of anonymous blogging. Many businesses owners make this mistake because they are not willing to put their employees or themselves out in the public eye. The result is a static blog that is boring and unpersonable. You will need to give a name, even if it is just your first name if you want your blog to be successful. A picture is also useful, but if you don’t feel comfortable with that, you’re going to have to use your personality to create that picture in the minds of your readers.
2. Blog about the right topics.
The blogs that get read find a way to mix current events in with their regular company news. The more topics you cover, the better your chances are of being discovered. Read through your competitor’s blogs and see what they are doing. Find out how you can do it better. It’s ok to have a few posts on your blog that may not be directly related to what you do. This helps build up your readership. However, it is important to find some way to relate every post you make to your company or your industry. Otherwise, your readers could get confused.
3. Allow your readers to comment.
It can be pretty scary to open up your blog to comments from your readers. However, this is a risk that pays off by allowing your readers to feel as though they are a part of what you are doing. If you do allow comments, it is alright to moderate them to avoid having a disaster occur, but you should allow some freedom of discussion. Many businesses make the mistake of talking at their readers instead of talking to them. By using comments, you can avoid this common mistake and ensure that your readers will feel that they matter to you.
4. Have fun.
The most common problem that all corporate bloggers face is that their industry may be a bit boring. There is a way to have fun with your posts, stay relevant to your topic and stay professional. If your blog makes you snore, what is it doing to your readers. Change it up every now and again and keep it lighthearted.
In order to avoid many of these pitfalls, it is a good idea to work with someone that is familiar with blog management. You’ll be able to get the benefit of their expertise and they can help you leverage your blog for success.

If you are looking to build up your company’s brand, one of the easiest ways to achieve this is through corporate blogging. There are numerous success stories out there about how a blog helped create a huge fan base for a company and helped them increase their sales and brand recognition. Let’s take apart these success stories to see how this technique can be used to help you build a strong brand that will be noticed and remembered.
1. The human approach.
Consumers have stronger reactions to brands when they feel an emotional attachment. For example, how many consumers automatically see the Hallmark logo and get sentimental. In addition, they also think of quality, since this is Hallmark’s signature. If you want to get the same results, adding that human touch will help build up an emotional attachment with your readers. By doing this, you’ll be creating a memorable brand with a human face and heart behind it. This is the key to building a strong brand.
2. More discoverability.
You can have the strongest branding concepts in the world, but if you’re not getting new visitors to your site, chances are you are shouting into the wind. If you want to stand out and get noticed, adding a corporate blog to your site increases your overall discoverability. The more posts you make, the better your chances are of getting noticed by search engines and as a result, getting noticed by the public.
3. Good controversy.
Not all controversy is bad, especially when you are standing up for a cause that the public can get behind. You can use your blog as a platform for creating good controversy and getting noticed. Your readers will be able to get behind your cause and you’ll notice that they will begin pulling for you. Your name will be associated with the “good fight” and your brand will become much stronger.
As a caveat, corporate blogs should always avoid bad controversy. This is the type of issue that can quickly spiral out of control online. The online community is tight knit and word travels quickly. Improper management of a blog can lead to bad controversy, especially if the poster is not experienced in handling hot button issues or steering comments into the right direction.
4. More visitors equals more chances to make your mark.
The main goal of building up a brand is to increase the amount of new customers and help them remember you. By having a blog that is published on a regular basis, you’re getting thousands of chances every day for building your brand and making a statement.
One of the best ways to ensure that you will get your branding goals accomplished is to hire a professional blog management company. They will be able to assist you in avoiding common pitfalls and using the blog to your company’s best advantage. These services are incredibly valuable, especially if you are not well versed in blogging.
