One of the best reasons to give corporate blogging a try is that it has the potential to really help you grow your business. If you are just establishing your online identity or if you are trying to actively increase your customer base and your sales, a corporate blog can make a big difference. There are many different ways that this type of communication can result in more sales and a larger customer base.
First, you’ll be adding content on a regular basis that covers a wide variety of topics. This means that there will be more content for search engines to index and more keywords used to ensure that you land in the top spot. This makes it much easier for new readers to discover not only your blog but your company as well. By taking the time to really work on a blog and publish it regularly, you can dramatically increase the number of visitors that your site sees every day.
Next, a corporate blog adds a level of humanity to any site. Many consumers perceive corporations as cold entities with little concern for the common man. By putting a name and a face to your company you’re creating a relationship and showing that there is a heart behind that business exterior. This is very effective at building up customer trust and is useful when you are trying to project a certain image for your company.
A corporate blog can also be used to connect with readers and get their feedback. While allowing comments on a blog can be scary, they are a great way for your customers to get their thoughts across. You’ll have a bird’s eye view of what your customers really want and this is a lot easier that relying on a focus group for the same thing. If you are concerned about allowing comments on your blog, you can always set them to moderation to avoid having any controversy erupt.
Lastly, a corporate blog helps you announce new products and specials – if you do it in the right way. Try to steer clear of blatant advertising and find ways to incorporate your announcements with current events. This helps you gain some powerful advertising that doesn’t cost a dime.
When you’re ready to start your own corporate blog it is important to make sure that you know how to handle it. It is much easier to hire a professional that knows how to run a corporate blog and keep it going in the right direction. You can actually end up saving money with this approach and you won’t have to worry about diverting company resources away from your other projects.
Corporate blogs can be powerful and effective but they do need to be managed properly. By working with a professional, you can ensure that your company will avoid common blogging pitfalls and you will be able to achieve the results discussed above as well as many other benefits.

The sad reality is that every year thousands of corporate blog die a quiet death and the only one that notices is their owner. Whether it is through a lack of attention, or simply an inability to find the right audience, keeping a blog alive can be a difficult task. If you are struggling to figure out whether or not it’s time to let your blog die a natural death, there are a few things to think about first. Quitting may be your best option, at least when you consider how much time and money you spend, but it should also be your last option.
Before you decide to throw in the towel, it’s a good idea to give it one last ditch effort. Take a month and set aside some extra time to really promote your blog. Remember, the people who succeed are the ones that held on for just a little bit longer. You could be missing out on thousands of readers if you quit too early. Here are some quick tips to help you form your last ditch effort.
1. Optimize Your Keywords.
Take the time to go through your posts and optimize them completely. Don’t forget the post titles either since this is very important. Post new content as well that is optimized and let the search engines re-index your site. This may help bump you up a few spots in the results page.
2. Start Submitting Your Feed to RSS Directories.
This strategy can work in many different ways. First, you are getting your feed out there in front of more people, and second, you are building quality backlinks, which in turn help your search engine placement. Aim to submit your feed to at least 50 directories to give yourself a good chance.
3. Write Posts That Get Attention and Promote Them.
Many times, the only reason a blog fails to find a readership is simply due to the fact that it is boring. Read through the front page of Digg and other social bookmarking sites and see what people are interested in. Write content that is applicable to your own site, but still follows this format and then submit it to these sites.
4. Use StumbleUpon.
While the advertising service here is hit or miss, the regular aspect of the site can bring in huge results, depending on your topic. Set up an account and stumble your site. You should be able to pick up at least a few new readers right away and over time, this will keep occurring.
Still not working? Or you were spending too much time blogging and not enough on your core business.

Since you’re not paying for these visitors through PPC ads or other means, you’re getting a chance to actually develop a relationship with your visitors and that all important motivation to keep going.
Promote your RSS feed. One of the easiest ways to get backlinks to your site, and to increase awareness about your products is through an RSS feed. Whenever you post on your corporate blog, take the time to ping your feed using a service like Pingomatic, or Pingoat. These will submit your RSS feed to numerous places and you can easily start to see results right away. As a bonus, indexed RSS content can be picked up by search engine spiders very quickly.
So, now you have your corporate blog optimized, you’re starting to develop relationships with your readers and you are getting your feet wet with RSS promotion. It may take a few tries to get results, but if you can stick with it, chances are you’ll start to notice a big increase in the amount of your daily traffic.

February 9th, 2010 — content, search engine
When it comes to trying to promote your business in an organic way, corporate blogging is possibly the best tool that you can use. This is one of the easiest ways to implement SEO on your site with little effort and a blog has the added benefit of being incredibly powerful in other areas as well. Let’s take a look at just a few of the ways that a corporate blog can work to produce great SEO results.
1. More content equals more discoverability.
Each blog post you make works in your favor with search engines. You’ll be covering more topics, using more keywords and giving search engines more to index. This will result in higher rankings on a wide variety of topics and will make it easier for new customers to discover your blog. Most search engines index blogs regularly and it’s very easy to nab that top spot when you are using this technique.
For example, let’s say that your company specializes in the sale of tennis rackets. You post a blog about Wimbledon. Your blog post gets ranked with this keyword as well as several others for the industry. Now, when someone does a search for Wimbledon, that blog post of yours is going to show up in the results. You’re reaching someone that is already interested in tennis and providing them with a resource that they can really use.
2. Frequent content = more frequent indexing.
Search engines use spiders to index web pages. Pretty much every site out there will get indexed at least once, but only those that update on a regular basis will get frequent indexing. By publishing a regular blog, you will start attracting those spiders on a daily or weekly basis. This means that instead of having to wait for six months to roll over until the spider comes back around, your content will be indexed almost immediately.
3. More pages = more search engine interest.
Most corporate sites are pretty static and cover the usual general information about a company. That’s not very interesting for search engines that are looking for dynamic content that people want to read. By adding more pages that cover several different topics, you are just making it so much easier for these spiders to want to add your content.
In addition, instead of the usual 5 to 10 pages for a site, you’ll be building up several every month. This just increases your chances of getting a better ranking and being able to have your pages show up with many different keywords.
When you’re starting a corporate blog it is a good idea to hire someone that has experience in handling SEO. When you get started on the right foot with a service that knows how to optimize your blog for the best results, you will see much quicker results and your blog will begin attracting more attention on a regular basis. A blog is a powerful tool, but only when it is used correctly.

Your blog will let you offer valuable information that your audience is looking for, and this will allow you to showcase your expertise to all of the world. This is an excellent way to gain the trust of both current and potential customers as well.
7 – Blogs are one of the most cost effective methods of publishing online.
Blogs can be set up for very little cost, and do not require a programmer in most cases. Some blogger hosts are completely free and will set the site up for you. In other words, a blog can cost between nothing and approximately $10 a month; a cost effective option consider the profit potential.

February 5th, 2010 — advertisment, audience, blog design, money, search engine, social bookmarking sites
Once you’re ready to set up your own corporate blog, you’ll need to figure out what your audience is since this will determine how you write your blog. If you already have a set group of customers that you feel will be reading your blog, you’re already pretty much set. However, if you want to reach out to a new audience, there are a few things that you will have to do first.
1. What is your demographic?
This is actually quite important when it comes to writing your blog. A younger crowd is going to want to see a blog that is more fun and integrated with social networking features, while an older crowd may feel more comfortable with a more staid blog. It will really depend, but these are some wide guidelines to help you. If you don’t know your demographic, it’s best to shoot for the middle of the road when it comes to style and the types of features that you offer on your blog.
2. How do you plan to find new readers?
Once you know your demographic, this will determine how you go about attracting new readers to your blog. For those under 35, promoting your blog on social bookmarking sites such as Digg will deliver your audience to you. However, these readers are very savvy and don’t appreciate over commercialized posts. You’ll need to learn how to walk that fine line between that and getting your message across.
Other readers can be reached through a PPC ad campaign targeting keywords that are well suited to your blog. This is a little expensive and most companies prefer not to have to spend money to promote their blog, but this is a good method. A secondary choice would be to release a press release detailing what your new blog will be doing.
3. The third option is just to let your readers discover you through search engines.
This will take the longest amount of time when it comes to building up your readership and it is a bit hit or miss. You’ll need to be very patient if you’re trying to grow your blog using only this method and you may never have the results you’re looking for.
The best bet is to combine all of these marketing tools into one to help you target your key audience. Once you’ve done that, word of mount will help you continue to grow your blog. Remember that you’ll need to keep writing compelling content if you want your audience to stick with you. A blog management company can assist you in writing posts that will get attention and they are also very useful when it comes to promoting your blog and handling the every day tasks that are associated with it. If you don’t have a lot of time to devote to building your blog’s audience, this is a very good solution that works well for most companies, big or small.

Do you know what qualities your corporate blog should incorporate in order to get the most out of it? Do you know what people are looking at when they determine whether or not they want to keep reading a specific business blog? The following is a look at some of the most important positive qualifies for a corporate blog to display.
- Corporate blogs must be accountable, so the author needs to be willing to own the commentary that he or she makes. Corporate blogs also need to be believable, in order to gain the trust of its visitors and frequent readers.
- Corporate blogs should be enthusiastic, and only enthusiastic bloggers should be allowed to represent the company behind the blog. Corporate blogs are direct and candid, so they should take on the heartfelt voice of whoever is writing them, and their messages need to be direct and to the point.
- Corporate blogs must be search engine friendly. This means they must increase your search engine visibility. They should also be flexible and versatile in what you offer. Use them internally, use them externally, use them for customers and employees, and use them for as many different purposes as you can come up with to get the most out of them.
- Corporate blogs should be up to date, informative and knowledgeable. They should be more “happening” than the website they belong to, and they should keep everyone reading apprised of new products and services, happenings within the company and other important information.
- Corporate blogs should be easy to read and completely free of jargon. They are not the place for corporate speaking, but rather should be easy to read and understand, because you do not know who is reading, and you want to appeal to everyone.
- Corporate blogs should be operational and manageable in all facets of their operation. They are more than simple communication tools, but can serve a variety of operational roles. They should also be easy to manage on the technical side, which is what blogging is intended to be all about in the first place: Reducing the technical side associated with publishing on the web.
- Corporate blogs should have a purpose. Don’t figure your purpose out as you go, but start with a solid purpose and run with it. If you change directions later, that’s your prerogative, but don’t do any corporate blogging without a clear focus to begin with.
- Corporate blogging content should be reusable. Expand on blog posts and create articles for syndication online. Grow your web presence with series blog posts. Include blog posts in your corporate newsletter, or compile them into a book that your customers can acquire from your company for added usefulness.
If your corporate blog follows all of these basic principles, then you have a winner, and your readers will recognize this.

Running a corporate blog can be quite time consuming, especially if you are new to blogging. Here’s a brief idea of what you can expect in terms of actual work and the time it will take to build a successful blog. The initial stages will be much more time consuming than the maintenance stages, but this should give you a good idea of what you can expect.
Setting up a Blog Site.
This can take a few days or longer, depending on the type of software you will be using and your design customization needs. Most people prefer to hire a designer to handle this, especially if they don’t have their own IT department. There will need to be a few days set aside for bug testing as well, to make sure that everything goes smoothly. Certain features for RSS and social bookmarking will need to be added, but these should not take too long to implement.
Writing Posts.
Depending on how fast you type and how well you’ve thought out your posts, writing each one may take a few minutes or a few hours. It’s a good idea to get a topic list together ahead of time to make it a lot easier when you have to write. This is very useful if you find that you have occasional writer’s block. You’ll just be able to refer to your topic list for some inspiration.
You will also need to decide how many posts you want to make per day as well as per week. Posting at least once daily can greatly increase your chances of a top search engine ranking and the more you post, the better off you will be. However, you will need to take into account the time for each post when scheduling this.
Managing Comments.
If you are allowing comments, but you need to moderate them, you will need to set aside some additional time for their approval. Again, this can take a few minutes or a few hours, depending on how popular your blog is. If you’re dealing with a lot of spam comments that need to be deleted, this can further stretch out how much time you’re spending.
Promotion.
Lastly, you will need to take some time to promote your blog, either on your site or by submitting stories to social bookmarking sites. This shouldn’t take very long, but it will add a few minutes on each day.
As you can see, a blog can be labor intensive and it can be a full time job. If you don’t have the kind of resources to devote this much time to a blog, it is a good idea to hire a blog management service. They can assist you in allowing you to spend time working on your own business while they manage your blog for you. This is almost essential as your blog becomes more popular and requires more of your time.

As more companies get into the world of corporate blogging, the word is spreading that this is a great way to reach out to the public. There are five specific benefits that any company can reap as a result of setting up a corporate blog.
1. Cheap means of marketing.
Let’s face it, you need to save money on marketing whenever you can. If you are looking for a very cheap way of increasing your site’s visits, adding a blog is a great way to do it. It will take time to build your readership, but the more you post, the greater your chances are of doing just that. If you promote your blog the right way, you can guarantee that you will be noticed. In addition, corporate blogging allows for organic marketing that really doesn’t require any additional effort. Search engines will be indexing each post you make and you’ll have that many more opportunities for discovery on these directories.
2. Build a strong brand.
Every company out there needs to have a strong brand that is instantly recognizable. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this without having to spend big bucks on a nationwide marketing campaign is to set up a corporate blog. By integrating this blog into your site, you’re setting up that visual link. As your readers get to know you, that trust relationship will begin to form and that right there is worth its weight in gold.
3. Make your company more customer friendly.
Customers typically see companies as nameless, faceless and very cold. By giving your blog the personal touch, you are reaching out to your customers and showing them that your company is indeed run by humans and that you do care about them. This is a vital link to any successful business and a corporate blog is one of the easiest ways to accomplish this without spending a lot of money.
4. Search Engine Optimization.
We touched briefly on this in the first point, but it bears going into further. If you have a static site that has a few pages, you are not giving search engines enough content to index you appropriately. You can only have so many relevant keywords on each page and you are severely limited. With a blog, especially if you post every day, you’ll have new opportunities to promote your company using a variety of different keywords. In addition, by posting frequently, you are increasing your chances that search engines will rank you higher and they will spider your site more frequently.
5. Incredibly economical.
Each of the points above all had one thing in common – each is a means of marketing, branding and building a customer base that does not require a lot of money. For smaller companies that have a limited marketing budget, this is perhaps the best reason to set up a corporate blog.
If you are interested in taking advantage of these benefits, contact a blog management company that can help you build a powerful blog that gets noticed.
