			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="left" title="billgates" src="http://www.buildify.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/billgates.jpg" alt="" width="228" height="240" />In a special address to an audience comprised of chief executives, Bill Gates recently said that regularly updated blogs and journals could be a great way for firms to let customers, staff members and partners alike what they are doing or working on. He has said that blogs created advantages over other ways of communicating which are older or outdated in nature, such as e-mail and website communication. More than 700 employees working for Microsoft are already using blogs so that they can inform people about their projects and keep them up to date.</p>
<p>The blessing of blogs by Bill Gates came during a keynote speech that was given during the Microsoft annual CEO summit, which was held at the Microsoft campus which is in Redmond, Seattle. The speech served as a canter through many of the forthcoming technological developments that business bosses need to know about, according to Bill Gates and Microsoft. The speech covered new wireless technologies, mobile phones, RFID, digital cameras and broadband, and all of the uses that can be gleaned from each of these vital technologies that businesses need to stay at the top of their game.</p>
<p>Bill Gates also made a point to dwell on the concept of blogs. He said that although blogs began primarily in the technical community, and even though they have much broader social implications now, they can also be used and taken advantage of by businesses as well. <strong>Bill Gates believes that blogs hold great advantages over older forms of communication and means of communicating and staying in touch like websites and e-mail. </strong>E-mail messages tend to be imposing, and they can easily miss out on key people that need to be included. Gates also noted that websites can be a problem as well, because they demand that visitors return regularly in order to find out if any changes have been made to the site, and websites require regular updates to avoid allowing them to become stale.</p>
<p>However, according to Gates, these problems can be solved by using blogs and RSS feeds, allowing viewers and readers to know whenever a blog has been updated. What blogging and these notifications are about is making it easier for people to communicate with one another. <strong>The ultimate idea here is that you should be able to get the information that you want, when you want it. </strong>Many Microsoft employees have already embraced these concepts, as there are more than 700 Microsoft employees who are currently maintaining corporate style blogs in order to let people know what they are working on. Microsoft does not currently make any of its own blogging tools, though it is largely expected to move into this industry very soon, pitching it into even sharper competition with Google, AOL and other companies.</p>

Let’s take a look at how you be an SEO success with your blog.</p>
<h3 style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>1. Use the right keywords. </strong></h3>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Just as you should use SEO principles on your site, you will need to use the same ones with your blog. Make sure that each post contains keywords relevant to your site and your industry. Don’t use the same ones over and over again, branch out into the long tail words for your site. This will help increase your traffic and give you more opportunities to rank in the top 10, especially with more obscure keywords that are nevertheless popular.</p>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;">The more often you publish your blog, the better your chances are of getting indexed promptly. Search engine spiders don’t go to every site on the internet every day. They make a log of how often a site is updated and then crawl it every once in awhile if it does not publish a lot of new content. If you are publishing every day, you will be training those spiders to index your blog every single day. This gives you a chance to take advantage of hot keywords to get better rankings and as a plus side, you’ll get to see results a lot faster.</p>

If you create a corporate blog for your business, and you follow some basic strategies for improving communication through this popular online media, you will make waves not only in your company, but in your industry, and the entire market as well. More and more companies and corporations are turning to blogging as a means of communicating within the industry. Do you want to start corporate blogging now, while there is still time to make waves, or do you want to wait until you&#8217;re stranded with the old forms of communication, when your competitors are reaching out to your customers via their corporate blog?</p>
<h3><strong>Face the facts: </strong></h3>
<p>If you want to improve communication in your company, you need to start blogging. Corporate blogging will allow you to create new lines of communication between employees, business partners, customers and company and competitors as well. This is usually done so that you figure out how much money each subscriber means to you. For example, this may be $1 a month, $5 or even more. To come to this figure, the list owner typically will add up the sales generated by a mailing and divide that figure by the total amount of subscribers. Most marketers prefer to get to the point where each person will earn them $5 a month.</p>
<p>This same formula can also be applied to your blog and many help you get a better idea of the payoff that you&#8217;ll be getting from spending the time and effort to establish your corporate blog. Once you have a better idea of how much each one of your visitors is worth, you may even be more motivated to keep adding new readers and to keep your promotional engine running.</p>
<p>Thanks to the power of corporate blogging, your visitors may eventually exceed the value of your list subscribers. If you are writing effectively and making sales, you can easily have your visitors worth more than $10 a month to you. Keep it up and see just how much it can grow over a short period of time.</p>
<p>But there are other ways to help you gauge how valuable your readers are &#8211; after all &#8211; money isn&#8217;t everything. A valuable reader is one that reaches out to you through the comments section, follows your work and tells their friends. The amount of people that do that is generally pretty small, unless you have a very popular site.</p>
<p>This is invaluable for many different reasons. First &#8211; you are getting free promotion and that is worth a bundle. Second, you&#8217;re getting better page views which can spell more revenue. Last but not least, you are building up a targeted audience &#8211; and that right there can be worth millions.</p>
<p>Think about the value that each one of your readers has before you post one more thing to your blog. Ask yourself whether or not that post is also valuable to them. After all, this is a two way street. Find ways to build up more valuable readers and learn how to monetize the ones that are not responding.</p>
<p>Managing a corporate blog is not a static position and there is a little bit of work involved, especially if you want to be successful. By learning how much your readers are actually worth, this can actually help you reach your goals in less time. Take the time today to see how much your readers are worth to you and figure out ways that you can increase their value.</p>
<p>At the same time, consider how you can increase the overall value of your blog, since these two are interconnected. Never stay stagnant, and keep moving forward. That is the key to building up a strong following &#8211; and one that is very valuable indeed.</p>

How can you be assured that your blog is going to be a success? Follow in the footsteps of the leaders and learn from their mistakes! There are three main secrets to successful corporate blogging, that any business owner can implement. They are easy to follow and you’ll be able to start seeing the benefits right away.</p>
<h3><strong>1. Be Original. </strong></h3>
<p>This can be broken down into three main sub categories: Design, Content and Promotion. Let’s look at the first one, design. There are thousands upon thousands of free themes out there for most blogging platforms. That doesn’t mean that you should be using one. When you’re running a corporate blog, you don’t want to have the same theme as some crazy teenager that’s a little bit emo and a whole lot desperate. It gives the wrong impression. Spend the money to have a theme designed for you that is original.</p>
<p>Next, let’s look at content. Sure, it’s easy to lift content or use snippets of other articles that have already been published. But why would anyone want to read that? You’ve got to put yourself in your reader’s shoes. You may be busy and a blog post may be the last thing on your mind, but you’ve got to take that time to write an original post. It will pay off. Lastly, promotion. You’ve got to find an original way to get your site noticed. This means using social networking, PPC ads and having a great campaign that will get the attention of readers.</p>
<h3><strong>2. Be Prolific. </strong></h3>
<p>The best blogs are the ones that publish every day, and in many cases, more than once a day. Frequent publishing has many benefits. First, you’re giving your readers an excuse to come back more than once and to visit every single day. Second, you’re building more opportunities for search engine indexing. The best corporate bloggers take the time to really knuckle down and commit to producing lots of original content every single day. It does pay off.</p>
<h3><strong>3. Be social. </strong></h3>
<p>Today’s online world is social and if you’re not taking part, you’re missing out. Encourage comments on your blog, talk to your readers, not at them. There are many little ways that you can be social on your blog. We’re not saying drop that veneer of professionalism, but you’ve got to find a way to reach out to them. Remember their names, use social networking sites, leave comments on other blogs. These are just a few ways that you can be social and increase your readership.</p>
<p>If you’re not comfortable commenting on another blog, mention one of their more interesting posts. Chances are they’ll be thankful for the publicity and they’ll return the favor. This is an easy way to build up your blog’s readership and make some great contacts in the blogging world. Corporate blogging is a great tool, especially when it is utilized the right way.</p>

The truth is, when consumers and other people begin to research you online, they are preferring to read what other people are saying about you, or they are looking for a chance to see you in action, reading about your expertise, how you solve problems, and so on.</p>
<p>Newsletters, testimonial ads and standard website content are excellent at getting the word out about your company, and they will never be completely replaced by blogging, but they are all clearly one way forms of communication. If you send out too many newsletters, your readers may stop paying attention, or they may regard your correspondence as spam outright. On the other hand, for those who prefer to receive information via e-mail, blogging is still quite the viable option.</p>
<h3><strong>Blogs allow you to reach out to your customers and other consumers more easily than ever, by allowing you to:</strong></h3>
<p>- Provide information and resources that are topical and relevant on a regular basis,<br />
- Receive feedback from your readers, engaging them in discussions that are relevant specifically to them,<br />
- Distribute your content on a much greater scale thanks to search engines and RSS feeds.</p>
<h3><strong>Additionally, blogs give your readers and customers a lot of additional capabilities, including the chance to:</strong></h3>
<p>- Receive regular updates from you,<br />
- Receive updates from you when they want to, and if they want to, rather than on your schedule,<br />
- Take things away from your blog, sharing them with their network<br />
- Find you more easily through search because of tagging and keywords.</p>
<p>Chances are, your customers are finding new ways to become connected now than in the past. Blogs will give you more juice with Google, and they will also allow you to differentiate yourself much more clearly from other businesses, and all it takes is a little bit of personality, and a little bit of work. Corporate blogging is all about pouring your passion for your company into a medium that your customers will gladly respond to. Internet users love blogs, and are attracted to blogs, so by writing in a blog, you can touch your customers past, present and future in new ways, giving them a reason to work with your company.</p>
<p>Now that you know why blogs are so important, and now that you understand what they can do for you and your company, the next step is obviously going to be to create your own blog. Your business can benefit in a number of ways when you run a corporate blog, so now is the time for you to implement corporate blogging in your marketing strategy for better business.</p>

You’re all charged up about the benefits you’re going to be reaping and the sales you’ll be making. After a few weeks of this however, this newness tends to wear off. If you didn’t luck out and gain instant success with your blog, it can feel like it’s just you and the crickets. While no one wants to waste time and resources, it is important to give your corporate blog enough of a chance to make it, and that means sticking with it, even though you may be completely fed up. Here are some tips to keep you going.</p>
<h3><strong>1. Set up a posting schedule and stick to it every day. </strong></h3>
<p>Once it becomes routine, and you realize that posting really only takes a few minutes, it is easier to keep the habit. Try making your morning coffee time your corporate blog time too, or find ways to combine your posting time with something that you enjoy. If necessary, set up a reward system so that you treat yourself for every post you make. Your blog won’t stand a chance if you abandon it, so you’ve got to keep at it until something happens.</p>
<h3><strong>2. Set realistic expectations. </strong></h3>
<p>Very few blogs make it overnight, and less than 2% of all blogs are actually runaway hits. It is vital to go into this project knowing that the returns may be smaller than you expect. You will need to give your blog at least six months to develop a steady audience. If after that time you have not seen any measurable results, it will be time to reevaluate your options. Until then however, stick with it.</p>
<h3><strong>3. Find new ways to get excited about posting. </strong></h3>
<p>Every single post you make on your corporate blog does not need to be a well thought out missive. Try putting up polls instead, or reference an interesting article that you saw. By finding new things to talk about that are related to your industry, you can keep that forward momentum going.</p>
<h3><strong>4. Put a face on your audience. </strong></h3>
<p>Corporate blogging is all about putting a personal face on your business, but this works both ways. It can be pretty difficult to get excited about posting when you feel like you are talking to a brick wall. To keep your energy up, imagine that you are writing to a friend. Envision this person and write your posts as though you were having a conversation with them.</p>
<p>This has the added benefit of making your posts more reader-friendly and more engaging. Try it and see if you don’t notice a difference in your attitude.</p>
<h3><strong>5. Don’t set yourself up to fail. </strong></h3>
<p>If you find yourself grumbling about “no one is going to read it anyway,” stop right there. Defeatist talk will only get you defeat. You’ll need to keep a positive approach going and give yourself time to succeed. It will happen, if you apply yourself.</p>

The key is patience when it comes to corporate blogging. You won’t achieve instant readership but over time, you’ll be laying that foundation that will help your business grow exponentially.</p>
<p>One of the best reasons to start a blog is that it provides your company with a face that the public can see. Usually, companies are perceived as not caring about the little guy and generally being faceless. Many companies just don’t have a need to keep adding content, but a blog can provide a means of accomplishing this without taking away from your overall site plan.</p>
<p>As an example, let’s say that we have a company that sells sports equipment. They’ve made their site and they’ve added their shopping cart and now there is nothing left to do. If they don’t have a lot of new products, their cart isn’t going to change and customers will have nothing new to see and little reason to keep coming back.</p>
<p>If this same company adds a blog to their site, they are providing their customers with a reason to visit the site every single day. This blog could be used in this example to discuss sporting events, the latest news as well as company updates. By integrating this into the products that the company sells, they can reach yet another goal. For example, let’s say that the company blogs about the Super Bowl. They can mention items from their football line in the post to give readers a chance to purchase related merchandise.</p>
<p>This is perhaps the best example of how easy it can be to grow your business with a corporate blog. It has all of the items necessary for success – Frequent content, related merchandise and a personable approach.</p>

<h3><strong>1 &#8211; Begin by defining your purpose. </strong></h3>
<p>This may sound obvious, but many bloggers do not think of their editorial purpose until well into the life of their blog. Exploring social media simply is not reason enough to start a corporate blog. You need a concept that is better defined. Rather than just saying that your blog&#8217;s intention is to engage your customers, you want to have a polished editorial purpose, like &#8220;Share inside information about the day to day operations within our company in order to better enrich the experience of our customers, engaging them in a dialogue with our business.&#8221; This may be a wordy way to put things, but it gives you a real solid idea of what it is that you are trying to accomplish with your blog. This way, if you ever find yourself wondering why you started this project in the first place, your editorial purpose can serve as an excellent reminder. &#8220;Oh, right, my goal was to reach out to my customers and share something of myself in the process.&#8221;</p>
<h3><strong>2 &#8211; Determine who responsibility will be given to, next. </strong></h3>
<p>Most people do not consider this, despite the fact that it is fairly obvious as part of a practical start up guide for corporate blogging. If you are smart, you will form a team of hardworking individuals that will work on the blog, or at least that will collaborate to come up with good subjects and topics for the blog. However, no matter how many people you have working on your corporate blog, you do need to have one single person in charge who can say yes or no to an idea or a blog post. Having a group is an excellent tool when putting a blog together, but someone absolutely needs to be in charge, otherwise you may have difficulty actually getting things on the page.</p>
<h3><strong>3 &#8211; Determine who your writers are going to be. </strong></h3>
<p>Sure, by now you have a social media manager who is in charge of the final say, but he or she should not be the only writer or the only person in charge of coming up with the content ideas. Depending on the size of your company and its scope, there are probably different departments within; each with a different area of focus. Because your audience is probably interested in all of these different areas, it would benefit your company and your corporate blog to have bloggers from different disciplines. Develop a list of capable writers, and then have each of them agree to writing a little bit every month on a variety of different subject matters in order to get the most out of your corporate blog. Then you can space these assignments out and post their blogs throughout the month easily.</p>

Nearly every company can benefit from networking and much of the current internet community has been built on the back of social networking. How can you take advantage of this trend and put it to work in your blog? Here are just a few tips to get you started.</p>
<h3><strong>1. Make a list of all the related blogs in your industry. </strong></h3>
<p>Let’s say that you manufacturer tools and you want to reach out to possible customers that could be using your tools. It’s a good idea to do some research and find all of the different blogs out there that are owned by companies that could benefit from your products. This is definitely time well spent. Create a list of all of their blogs and subscribe to their RSS feeds. Keep track of what they are posting about and start reaching out to them.</p>
<h3><strong>2. Leave comments on their blogs. </strong></h3>
<p>One of the best ways to get noticed is by leaving a comment on their blogs. Keep it complimentary and professional and make sure that you use your company name and the address of your company’s blog. This is an easy way to open up the lines of communication and it only takes a few seconds. You’ll be able to reach out to companies all over the world using this method and you’ll be building up relationships that could pay off in the future.</p>
<h3><strong>3. Schedule a blogging event. </strong></h3>
<p>One great way to get the attention of other companies is to host an event that could include them. Get creative and think of different types of events that would suit your industry. Invite other corporate bloggers to attend. If necessary, find a way to host a special expo or something that is somehow related both to blogging and to your business. You’ll be able to get a lot of press and the coverage will only help increase your business.</p>
<h3><strong>4. Reference their posts in your posts. </strong></h3>
<p>If you want to give someone a corporate shout out, don’t be shy. They’ll probably be honored that a) you read their blog, and b) you thought enough of their post to reference it. This is can be used by doing a trackback, or simply by including their URL and some quotes. However, this should only be done if your post is complimentary and serves to buttress their own point. They’ll feel like you are an ally and they will be much more likely to reach out to you as a result.</p>
<p>These are just a few simple means of utilizing the power of blogging to increase your networking reach. Give it a try and see how many new contacts you can come up with in a week. Don’t forget to keep cultivating and looking for new opportunities. New corporate blogs spring up every day and there is a world of opportunity out there just waiting for you.</p>
